Recycled mulch, native plants, drought-tolerant plants and plants that provide for wildlife are used in this garden.

At the Polk County Extension Service you can come and visit the Florida Yards and Neighborhoods Demonstration Gardens and view all nine principles in the landscape.

This landscape is full of drought-tolerant and low-maintenance plants. It is colorful year-round and provides a great habitat for birds and butterflies.

Drought tolerant native plants (Beach Sunflower, Liatris) make this landscape low maintenance. A mulched path reduces stormwater runoff, and no irrigation is used.
